CONSEC 2006 a great success!

30/05/07

Attendees from the USA and Japan were amongst over 150 delegates who attended the Association of Security Consultants' annual conference, CONSEC, which was held on 16 November 2006 at the Royal Air Force Museum at Hendon, one of the most prestigious aviation museums in the world.

The Lord MacKenzie of Framwellgate OBE, one of the ASC's Patrons, chaired the meeting on 'Major Project and Event Security'. Delegates were fortunate to hear such high profile speakers as Graham Fulcher from the Metropolitan Police Service Major Projects Team provide details of the impact of security on major projects, Peter Heath of Atkins Limited on implementing streetscape security, David Crump, Head of Construction and Project Management, Quintain PLC, on the Wembley development, and Wing Commander Peter Fiddy, RAF Police, who covered organising security for major international public events.

Andrew Amery from LOCOG gave a fascinating insight into the response to holistic security and safety solutions that the forthcoming London Olympics must achieve. He covered the initial concept, design input, collaboration with UK Authorities and event organiser incorporating statutory, regulatory and best practise requirements to achieve delivery of a safe and secure environment for probably the world's largest event.

Major sponsor for the event was Lenel, who were joined by other sponsors including SMT, Frontline, JVC Professional Europe Ltd., Beacon Security, Axis Communications, Salto Systems and Maxxess.

Mike Cahalane, one of the founder members of the Association of Security Consultants, said that the conference was one of the most successful he had been to over the last 12 years, with the least number of no-shows for any ASC conference to date.
