BS 8549:2006 now available

30/11/06

Following a very careful review a British Standard Institution (Bsi) working party drafted this new standard, BS 8549:2006 - Security Consultancy Code of Practice.

The original Code of Practice PAS 49 ,which was published two years previously, and a draft of BS 8549 had been issued for public comment in the manner that is followed for all new standards. All comments and suggestions were given due consideration and the end result was a recommendation of the working party for the document in its present form.

Subsequently a resounding majority endorsement of the document by GW3 the main committee responsible for approving the final draft for publication was recorded last month and the document is now available for purchase.

The Security Industry as a whole is well represented on the main GW3 committee which included the ASC, BSIA, EPIC, JSIC NSI, SSAIB, SIA, S4S and TSI.

Nigel Flower the chairman of the working party that drafted this standard and also a founder member of the ASC and a member of ASIS said that he was very encouraged by the fact the working committee, consisting mainly of working consultants, gave their unequivocal support for the publication of this new standard.
