NEW APPOINTMENTS AT ASC
ASSOCIATION OF SECURITY CONSULTANTS
_________________________________________________
Lord James Bethell accepting the role as a Patron is just one of the recent changes at the Association of Security Consultants.
Lord Bethell is Communications Director for Policy Exchange, the Westminster think-tank. He was formerly managing partner of Portland, the communications agency, and has five year's journalistic experience as staff reporter at The Sunday Times and other national newspapers and political experience as Conservative Parliamentary candidate, working for US Senator Robert Dole and EU Commissioner Lord Brittan.
His first official engagement for the ASC was as Keynote Speaker at the ASC's annual international showcase, CONSEC, at which he gave a very interesting outline on politics and security.
At the ASC's recent AGM, Roy Sutherland was elected Chairman. A Director of Sutherland Roberts Security and Brecon Security, he has a BSc (Hons) in Criminology, an MSc in Social Research and the Environment and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Applied Social Science.
He is a former police officer, who served for over 30 years with the Metropolitan Police. During his service he undertook numerous and varied operational and investigative roles before being appointed to Divisional Command in West and South West London as a Chief Superintendent.
At the meeting ratifying his appointment, Roy said, "I am delighted to have become the Chairman of the Association of Security Consultants. The ASC is the premier organisation for Security Consultants, setting professional standards, promoting members' interests and providing opportunities for professional development and networking. I look forward to leading and focussing the direction of the Association over the next few years, particularly welcoming new members who wish to establish their professional standing and broaden their business opportunities."
Roy is joined on the Board by Jon Laws (Deputy Chairman), Chris Roberts (Treasurer), Mike Cahalane (Founding Director), Nigel Flower (Founding Director), Stewart Brown, Simon Cooper, Gordon Herrald, Allan Hildage, Simon Lambert and Simon Whitehouse. The Company Secretary is Laurie Doust, with John Benton being Life President.
