Reasons to join

The Association of Security Consultants (ASC) is the professional organisation for independent security consultants in the UK, representing members’ interests and promoting their activities.

Independent Security Consultants are able to apply for Full membership but we also offer Associate or Corporate membership to those linked to a particular organisation who wish to benefit from the networking and professional development opportunities we provide.

To join you will need to hold relevant qualifications and/or be able to demonstrate experience from a relevant industry. Our peer reviewers ensure that all members are appropriately qualified to deliver the services they offer.

Members can take part in a variety ASC of events, many of which take place outside of London.

Full Membership

Full membership is open to principals and employees of independent security consultancies only. Membership is on an individual basis and does not apply to the business whether it is sole trader, partnership or limited company. For the purposes of FULL ASC Membership, ‘Independent’ means that neither the member, nor the company or organisation the member works for, provide security products or security services.

Associate Membership

Individuals employed in the security sector that do not meet the criteria above. Associate status is considered to be any security practitioner employed to provide professional security advice including, for example, security installers and systems manufacturers, insurance surveyors, crime prevention officers and corporate security advisors.  It will also include applicants who are working towards meeting the core competences or qualifications for membership.

Corporate Membership

Corporate membership is open to those employed in a senior security role in large organisations – private or public. We have members from a variety of sectors who bring with them expertise in their specific field. In exchange, we offer access to our events and networks which help to keep to corporate members up to date with the latest developments in our industry.

The Application Process & Costs.

Firstly, you should decide which membership status you are applying for (see the definitions above). The ASC membership application process is simple and is commenced by completing an online form. All applicants are required to pay a £50 (non-refundable) application fee to cover our external vetting agency costs. Please note that the vetting process will require you to provide two referees and identification documents. The ASC's membership team will then conduct a peer review of your application and vetting report which they aim to finalise within 21 days from the date when your completed vetting report is received from the external vetting agency. The membership team will make a decision and if your application has been successful an offer of membership will be made. Once you pay your first years annual subscription fee in full (£160 Full & Corporate, £150 Associate), your membership will commence and you will be emailed your personal login details.
