Stephen is the Director/ Principal Consultant of UK aviation risk management consultancy company Avsec Resilience Ltd, having previously held the roles of Head of Aviation Security for UK airline British Midland International (known as bmi), operating out of Heathrow airport and as a Senior Lecturer in Aviation Security/ Course Leader for the MSc in Aviation Security, at Bucks New University, UK.

His early career was in the Royal Marines Commandos, then moving into the security industry in 2003, working in Iraq and then moving over to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, covering the airline (bmi) country security operations, prior to moving back to the UK and up the corporate security ladder.

Holds a Master's Degree in Security Management from Loughborough University, the Certificate in Terrorism Studies from the University of St Andrews, a registered Charted Security Professional (CSyP), and a Fellow (FSyl) at the UK Security Institute.
